Executive Summary

IRIS Education & Training Services was engaged by Pathfinder International to support the development of Facility-Level Disaster Preparedness and Contingency Plans for health facilities operating in disaster-prone areas of Sindh.

The assignment focused on strengthening institutional preparedness, emergency response planning, risk mitigation measures, and operational continuity mechanisms within healthcare facilities. Through comprehensive assessments, stakeholder consultations, facility evaluations, and risk analysis exercises, IRIS developed practical preparedness frameworks tailored to the operational realities of healthcare institutions.

The project examined existing emergency response systems, resource availability, infrastructure vulnerabilities, human resource capacities, communication protocols, and disaster management arrangements. Findings were translated into facility-specific preparedness and contingency plans that enabled healthcare institutions to improve resilience, minimize service disruption during emergencies, and strengthen coordinated response mechanisms.
